Q. what is twelve tone music ? (please with a brief definition for non-musician people). Is there a relationship between modern architecture and twelve tone music?or what about common traits?

A. If you go through all the steps of the scale in succession (A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D# E, F, F#, G, G#) you find that there are 12 notes altogether. (The same would apply if starting at the top of the scale and going down, in which case it would be expressed in flats, not sharps.) In 12 Tone or Serial Music, the composer takes these twelve tones, arranges them in a specific order (or “series”), and then uses this series over and over to create the music. He can use them as a melody, stack them vertically to create harmonies, or arrange them as he sees fit in creating the piece. 12-Tone music can sound perfectly tonal, or be as outrageously dissonant as possible, all depending on the creativity of the composer.
In terms of architecture, all music has a relation to architecture. More traditionally classical forms have much of the same symmetrical structure as traditional architecture. With 12-tone composition, the tone series and its application to the piece can be viewed as a form of mathematical formulas, and this is something very related to architecture. For example, the structure of a bridge, and its ability to withstand the stresses of load, wind, temperature—even its ability to hold up its own weight—are determined and expressible in terms of mathematical formulas. Even the shape of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis can be expressed in terms of a single mathematical formula.
